This is a real dive, not one of these fake places that are comparable to pre-ripped designer jeans. The prices are fair. The music is great. But the Sunday brunch will blow your freakin' mind! We went after checking out our friends Firewater Tent Revival on a Saturday night. They said we HAD to meet them in the morning back at Fly's Tie for brunch. We did and I couldn't believe what happened. I got a bloody mary, lit up a smoke(yes, smoking!!) and checked out a pretty awesome menu. I went for the shrimp and grits while the wife got corned beef hash. Our meal arrived after a few more bloody marys(takes time but worth the wait) and this was 5 star stuff! Wife's corned beef was actual corned beef! Not the canned crap, and it was fantastic. My shrimp and grits was just perfect. Sweet, flavorful shrimp. Perfect over medium eggs. Grits cooked and seasoned perfectly. Can't forget about the from scratch toast! Neat thing is the only meal they serve is brunch on Sunday, so they really bring out the big guns! Kitchen is practically closed the rest of the week except for maybe your typical bar food. This truly was a legendary experience.

This is a fun laid back bar! Some nights on weekends they have good bands that play a variety of music.
The drinks are well made and the staff is nice! The bar is very hole in the wall but very cool atmosphere inside and on the outside patio which has a nice fire place as well and couches!
This bar is conveniently located next to many other places that are good for food and drinks! -

Be warned - this establishment is not honest. I was over charged $15 by the bar manager, Sean, on a round of drinks. When I tried to call to speak to him or the owner, Frank, I was unable to get through BECAUSE THERE IS NO PHONE NUMBER! The bar does not have a working phone. The one online is not connected. When I went in to speak to the bartender working, Eric, he understood my frustration but said he was not authorized to give me my money back because Sean was the one working the night I was there. I left my phone number, a copy of my receipt and a copy of my bank statement - nobody has called me back to remedy this. I'm incredibly disappointed that someone would be so dishonest and take advantage of a situation to benefit himself illegally.

What a fun little place! I can't wait to come back to Jacksonville so I can hang here again.
Fly's Tie is a small, hole-in-the-wall kind of place with a beachy, laid-back feel. There is nothing presumptuous or snobby about it. It is your classic local joint.
When we walked in, there was a live band playing, so the inside area was packed. After ordering a pint and a few PBR tallboys, we headed outside to the patio area. Here, you will find a large fireplace, surrounded by roughly constructed 2x4 seating, and homemade tables. There isn't necessarily table service, but it is a short trip to the bar to get another round.
We hang out most of the night, and were able to enjoy the atmosphere without interruption or consequence. The patio is lined with night blooming jasmine, so the soft, floral scents waft over the smoky smell of the natural fireplace to give the essence of not being in a bar, but possibly a backyard barbecue party.
If you are looking for a place to hang out, enjoy your company, and have a large drink selection in a relaxed environment, Fly's Tie is your jam. -

A beach institution. Not the classiest joint, but a great place to chill with friends. Decent drinks and a pretty good mix of local beers on tap.
The gem of this place is their outdoor seating area. Cozy bench seating with a fireplace in the middle. It's like hanging out at your cool friend's house.
